Yadkin Arts Council Paints and Pints

This April the Yadkin Arts Council will be holding their first ever Paints and Pints Brew Festival! This will be an exciting evening of North Carolina Craft Brews, featuring a number of breweries - including Hoots Roller Bar and Carolina Brewing Company! Come treat yourself to some craft beers, delectable munchies, art opportunities, and a performance by the Jimmy Buffett tribute band, Bluffett! Tickets are $45/person and include the beer tasting and concert!

Forsyth Creek Week Yadkin River Clean-Up

Grab your canoe or kayak and join the Yadkin Riverkeeper for a waterborne clean-up of the Yadkin River from U.S 421 to the Huntsville take-out (5.4 miles). Participation is limited to 30 boats.

During Creek Week the Kernersville Police Department is making its pill drop box available to all Forsyth County households. (No businesses, health-care facilities, long-term care facilities, pharmaceutical representatives, pharmacies, doctor’s offices  or veterinarian clinics). NOTE: Only pills can be accepted. Public Hearing on Buck Steam Station Coal Ash Closure Deadline

Tuesday, March 22, 2016 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm

The state government in Raleigh has failed, for the past year, to protect or provide safe drinking water for the 70+ families around Duke Energy's Buck Steam Station that received "Don't Drink Your Water" notices in 2015. While Duke Energy was shamed into providing bottled water to Dukeville residents who couldn't drink their well water, the state has not required Duke to excavate their ash or guarantee safe, long-term drinking water supplies to Dukeville neighbors.

FREE Winston-Salem Screening of “Coal Ash Stories"

This year's tour features two new short documentary films focused on local coal ash waste issues. The films expose public health concerns, related policy issues and community responses to this environmental crisis. The screening tour is timed to coincide with the NC Department of Environmental Quality’s public hearings on ash basin closure in North Carolina, a unique and important opportunity for North Carolinians to support safe coal ash storage across the state.
