Ripple Effect: Red Wolves & River Conservation

  • Hanes House/ SECCA 750 Marguerite Drive Winston-Salem, NC, 27106 United States (map)

Join us for an interactive art experience and thought-provoking conversation on the intricate relationships between our local rivers, their inhabitants, and the well-being of our communities.

With our current exhibition Lauren Strohacker: Old Red, I Know Where Thou Dwellest as a jumping off point, this conversation will focus on wildlife advocacy and the Yadkin River, a lifeline that weaves through our region and sustains the rich biodiversity of its surroundings. We are honored to have artist Lauren Strohacker and Edgar Miller, Yadkin Riverkeeper's Executive Director and Riverkeeper, as our guest speakers. We will also be joined by Richard Bergl, Director of Animal Care, Conversation, Education and Science at the North Carolina Zoo.

Whether you're an environmental enthusiast, an artist, a conservationist, or just curious about our connections to nature, this conversation will deepen your understanding of how our actions today determine the legacy we leave for future generations.

Ground Work – A Red Wolf Art Experience

This program will also highlight Ground Work, a digitally projected pack of life-sized red wolves placed throughout SECCA's back lawn.Ground Work is a visual echo of the red wolves making their last stand on the North Carolina coast and an invocation to redevelop equitable interspecies relationships between humans and red wolves at large.
