Join us on May 11th for an unforgettable evening celebrating the Yadkin River!
Join the Yadkin Riverkeeper (YRK), the Elkin Trails Association, and other volunteers to remove garbage and debris while paddling down the Yadkin from Ronda to Crater Park (6.8 miles) in Elkin. Registration is recommended for this event. YRK will provide a limited number of boats to volunteers that need them, but we are encouraging volunteers to BYOboat. Paddlers will drop off boats in Ronda between 11-11:30 AM, drive to Crater Park for lunch, and be shuttled back to Ronda to begin the cleanup. Volunteers will receive a free lunch.
Earth Day Jam is a free music and arts, farm-to-festival, and educational Earth Day celebration, in the heart of Downtown Salisbury, NC, benefitting local nonprofit Happy Roots school and community gardens programs.
Support the planet and celebrate with the community at the largest Earth Day Fair in the region, hosted by Piedmont Environmental Alliance. The event is FREE and open to the community.

Local author and historian Randell Jones will highlight the role of the Yadkin River in the settlement of the North Carolina Piedmont and the role the Yadkin played in the founding of the United States.
Come out with Yadkin Riverkeeper for a cleanup of Salem Creek. Gloves, trash bags, and a limited number of trash grabbers will be provided. So bring your friends and meet us at the Anderson Building parking lot (WSSU campus)!
Yadkin Riverkeeper’s Annual Membership Meeting will be held at Footnote Coffee and Cocktails in downtown Winston-Salem. The program will include board member elections, the State of the River report by Riverkeeper/Executive Director Edgar Miller, and a presentation by Sally Bethea.

Day 1 (Friday, September 22)
Short 3.5-mile paddle from Highway 801-Concord Church access area to Boone’s Cave Park. Paddle along the stretch of the Yadkin where Daniel Boone hunted and fished as a young man. Camp overnight at Boone’s Cave Park. Dinner and breakfast included for overnight campers.
Day 2 (Saturday, September 23)
9-mile flat water paddle from Boone’s Cave Park to York Hill access at the Yadkin River Park as part of the Rowan County Creek Week finale. Paddle, camping, breakfast and dinner $75, with boat $90.
Join Yadkin Riverkeeper as we highlight water quality through an interactive Water and Whiskey Tasting event. Water quality impacts everything from the water we drink to the water used in the production of local liquor, wine, and beer. Guests will experience a tour of the Yadkin River Basin through a variety of water sources and spirits! This is a 21+ ticketed event.

Paddle from the proposed new Ararat River access area on Pilot Mountain State Park land at the confluence of the Yadkin and the Ararat through the Shoals to the riverside campsites at the Pilot Mountain State Park River Section along the Ivy Bluff Trail.
Join Yadkin Riverkeeper (YRK) Edgar Miller for lunch at the Happy Valley Filling Station on the upper Yadkin River near Patterson to learn more about YRK’s efforts to improve water quality and expand recreational access to the Yadkin River.
Join Yadkin Riverkeeper Edgar Miller for a Lunch and Learn at the Happy Valley Filling Station (HVFS) and a 3 mile paddle on the upper Yadkin River on Friday, September 1. On day two (Saturday), paddle with us from the Jones Farm/HVFC to the Ferguson access area on Highway NC 268. Then on Sunday, paddle from the Ferguson access area to the Marley Ford access area on Kerr Scott Reservoir.

Mark your calendars for our annual Carolina Heritage Vineyard paddle on Saturday, July 15th!
Crater Park in Elkin offers a floating dock to assist with launching, and a pleasant float down to the confluence of the Yadkin and Mitchell rivers. Free pastries and coffee from Dirty Joe's will be available before the paddle. After the paddle, we will take out at Burch Station and walk (15 minutes) or ride up to Carolina Heritage Winery to enjoy a complimentary wine tasting, beer or non-alcoholic beverage and live music. Freshly cooked food will be available for purchase as well.
Join Yadkin Riverkeeper for an exploration of the confluence of the Yadkin and Uwharrie Rivers, where the River's name changes to the Pee Dee and flows into Lake Tillery. Explore riverine habitats, wetlands, and tributaries to the Yadkin and Uwharrie Rivers on this 5 mile loop paddle. Will require moderate upstream paddling on flat water. Lunch is included in your ticket price, and will be provided by the Buttercup Cafe.
Come to the free public unveiling of a StoryMap that analyzes environmental injustice in the Yadkin River Watershed. This project was completed by Yadkin Riverkeeper staff and Spatial Justice Studio Fellows Bailey Hill and Grace Fuchs. After the presentation of the map, Grace and Bailey will moderate a panel discussion from environmental justice advocates in Winston-Salem.
YRK will be hosting a free screening of “The Smell of Money” in collaboration with a/perture cinema on Thursday, June 8th at 6:00pm.

The South Yadkin River Canoe & Kayak Race will start at the US Highway 601 bridge
and access area on the South Yadkin west of Salisbury, NC and finish at the access area located at the confluence of the South Fork and the main channel of the Yadkin. Finish line is at the end of Hanna Ferry Rd. off Old Mocksville Rd. The course is approximately 6 miles long and consists of flat water with some current depending on rainfall.
The 8th annual CraftHalf half marathon, 5k, and Kids Dash is returning to Winston-Salem on Saturday, April 1st! Join us to celebrate running and a kickoff celebration to North Carolina Beer Month.

Yadkin Riverkeeper is so appreciative of all the ongoing highway, river, lake and stream clean up projects being done by many volunteer organizations throughout the Yadkin River watershed. To recognize these volunteer efforts and incentivize the Great Yadkin Riverkeeper Earth Day Cleanup, YRK will be offering cash prizes as follows:
1) Most trash collected - First prize = $100, Second Prize = $75, Third prize = $25
2) Most volunteers - First Prize = $100, Second Prize = $75, Third prize = $25
Come out with Yadkin Riverkeeper for a cleanup of Salem Creek and Brushy Fork Creek. Gloves, trash bags, and a limited number of trash grabbers will be provided. This year we will be set up at two different locations. So grab your friends and meet us at the Anderson Building parking lot (WSSU campus) or Skyland Park (Brushy Fork).
