Join Yadkin Riverkeeper for our member-only Historic Paddles that explore the history of the Yadkin River. Our sponsors include: Cube Yadkin Generation, LLC, Ilderton Dodge, Bunce Buildings, Piedmont Triad Regional Council Bob Pate Memorial Fund for the Yadkin River, Carolina Heritage Vineyard & Winery, Foothills Brewing, and Old Nick Williams Co.

Our last paddle of the year!  We will put in at Roaring River Canoe Rentals, a private access on the Roaring River. Owner John Alexander will provide a history of the multiple dams built on the falls only a few yards upstream of the launch, and some local history. From there, we will float down to the Roaring River to the Yadkin. On the Yadkin, we will pass several former ferry sites and fish weirs, and finally, make the great loop of Roundabout, the colonial farm of Col. Benjamin Cleveland, a well-known leader of the local Militia during the American Revolution.

For participants in our members-only paddles, boats will be provided free of charge.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Registration closes on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF YADKIN RIVERKEEPER TO SIGN UP. IF YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS NOT CURRENT, THE PRICE OF YOUR TICKET WILL INCLUDE A MEMBERSHIP TO YADKIN RIVERKEEPER.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions on outdoor gatherings, PADDLE IS LIMITED TO 15 PADDLERS. We will also be requiring masks on land, practicing social distancing on both land and water, and providing hand sanitizer.

A shuttle will be provided for this paddle. Groups are encouraged to self-shuttle to aid with social distancing.

IMPORTANT FOR REGISTERED PADDLERS:

REGISTRATION OPENS AT 11AM.

PADDLE BEGINS AT 1PM.

Note: Personal Flotation Devices (PFD's) are REQUIRED for all paddlers. PFD's are included in your kayak or canoe rental, or if you use a YRK boat; however, if you are supplying your own boat, please bring a PFD. All paddlers are required to sign a waiver; if you have a minor child, the waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.
