Paddling Staff/Volunteer Orientation Day

  • Bashavia Creek Preserve 3465 Kilmurry Hill Road Pfafftown, NC, 27040 United States (map)

This has been called a training day. Upon reflection, it’s more of an orientation. The goal is to help volunteers understand roles and tasks that are needed to conduct successful paddling trips for Yadkin Riverkeeper. We will meet at Piedmont Land Conservancy’s Bashavia Creek Preserve to spend about half a day discussing the topics below. If you have your own gear, we can go to Old 421 and paddle upstream to maybe practice some of these topics.

Topics of the Orientation:

  • Guest Check In

  • Group Management

  • How to Handle Gear

  • How to Handle Trouble

  • Specific Staff Rolls

We will meet from 9am to 12pm. The location is 3465 Killmurry Hill Rd. Bring a chair. No water is available on site, so bring a liter or two. Bring paddling gear if you would like to paddle afterwards.

This is a free event! Please register below!
