YRK Spring Appeal

As spring brings new life across the Yadkin River Basin and we celebrated Earth Day last month, we are reminded of how much the health of our local waterways impacts everything around us — from the drinking water we rely on, to the land we farm, to the places we gather with family and friends.

At Yadkin Riverkeeper, we are proud to be working on meaningful projects that directly protect and enhance our river and its surrounding communities. Here’s just a glimpse of what your support helps make possible:

  • Policy Advocacy: YRK staff is at the forefront of advocating for policies to improve water quality in the Yadkin watershed, including regulations designed to reduce sediment and nutrients polluting the River and its lakes.

  • Community Cleanups: We’re organizing water and land cleanups; removing trash, logging pollution concerns, and engaging volunteers of all ages.

  • Water Quality Monitoring: Our team is back out in the watershed, testing High Rock Lake for nutrients and chlorophyll-a, kicking off our Swim Guide program to measure E. coli levels and investigating pollution threats to ensure the safety of swimmers, paddlers, anglers, and wildlife.

  • Education and Outreach: From Creek Week programs and school field trips to town halls and public meetings, we’re informing and empowering communities to protect their water resources.

  • Adopt-a-Watershed Program: We’ve launched a new way for individuals and businesses to take ownership of clean water in their own backyards with more than 230 watersheds identified for adoption across the basin.

Supporting local matters now more than ever.
In an age of growing environmental threats, your gift stays right here, protecting North Carolina’s second-largest river basin and the people who depend on it. Potential cuts to US EPA funding that supports state level environment protections will make Riverkeepers one of the last lines of defense to protect our precious water resources.

As we gear up for a busy season of advocacy, paddles, cleanups, and outreach, we’re asking for your help. Please consider making a gift to Yadkin Riverkeeper today. Your support ensures we can continue to respond quickly to pollution, advocate for stronger protections, and inspire the next generation of river stewards.

Together, we can protect clean water for today - and for generations to come.

Happy Earth Day. Please celebrate by making a donation to Yadkin Riverkeeper.

Thank you for your support.
